1) Do you really make all your own clothes in Chemainus?
Yes, we do. Except the Spanx of course.
2) Is everything washable?
Almost everything. We recommend hand-wash inside-out in cool water and drip dry. The dryer is actually much harder on your clothes than washing them.
3) How does your sizing work?
Our sizing is generous. See our Sizing Page for measurements.
4) If you have done custom work for me before, will you still have my measurements?
Yes. You can pick your fabric and pick your style, and we can make an outfit up for you. The best way to order this is to look at our fashions online and then call us or email us at the "Contact Us" section. We will call you, and we can create your order over the phone with you.
5) I cannot find off-the-rack clothes to fit me, and I have not had a custom order from you before. Could you still custom make an outfit for me?
Yes. We would need the following measurements. Shoulder width. (This is across you back from shoulder to shoulder.) Bust (The widest part of your bust) Waist (Your natural waist line) Hip (The widest part of your hip) Inseam (The easiest way to get this is to measure the inside seam from crotch to bottom of pant on a pair of pant you own and are the right length). For arm length measure a blouse or sweater you like the length of from under arm to end of sleeve. For skirt length measure from your natural waist to down to where you would like to skirt to finish. For jacket, top or blouse length measure from underarm down to where you would like it to finish. You can then either phone us or email us at the 'Contact us" section of the web site and we will call you and then together we can create you outfit.
6) What is your return policy?
We will accept returns within 30 days of shipping for exchange or in-store credit. If you cannot find anything suitable we will refund you using whatever method you paid us with. We cannot, of course, accept returns on anything we have altered for you or customized for you.
7) Would you send me fabric swatches?
Yes. Request them by email or phone and we will mail you swatches.
8) Are the colors I see on my monitor the exact color of the clothes?
Monitors can show slightly different shades of a color. It will be very close though. If you are unsure, request a fabric swatch and we will mail it to you.
9) How much do you charge for shipping?
Click the "Shipping" link on the front page of our store.
10) If I order on-line will you contact me before shipping?
Yes. We will either phone or email you to go over your order and confirm it.
11) How long have you been in business?
Almost twenty years in our current location and twenty-five years since start-up. Read the "About Us" page to find out a little about our history.
12) Where do you get your fabrics?
We buy most of our fabrics from Canadian distributors. Some of it is actually milled in Canada. We believe in buying Canadian as much as possible and are proud that we make our goods here in Canada. As you most likely know, the garment trade is notorious for exploiting workers in third world countries. To meet our team of employees go to the "Our Team" page.
